HyCAM International Workshop

21 October 2026 - 23 October 2026
Sorrento, IT
RWTH Aachen University

Andrea Ciani from Ansaldo Energia participated in the 1st HyCAM International Workshop “Towards Hydrogen-Based Fuel Combustion Enabled by Additive Manufacturing.

His presentation mainly covered Ansaldo’s advancements in SLM (selective laser melting) and fuel flexibility. He will further explore how sequential combustion and additive manufacturing can enable efficient, stable, and low-emission combustion systems capable of using hydrogen, ammonia, and other hydrogen-derived fuels. By distributing heat release across multiple stages and enabling complex combustor designs, these technologies help address challenges such as high flame temperatures, flashback, autoignition, and changing fuel properties. Together, they offer a promising pathway toward fuel-flexible combustion systems that support the transition to low-carbon energy.

His keynote provided a valuable opportunity to highlight our project, as it closely aligns with its objectives.
