The paper describes the modelling of the thermoacoustic response of reheat flames to the transverse acoustic eigenmodes of the combustion chamber. The aim is to determine the linear stability of each eigenmode and create an efficient tool for the thermoacoustic analysis during reheat combustion chamber development. To do so, a novel FEM based framework was developed to model the ignition process under the influence of the acoustic eigenmodes and extract their linear growth rates. Validation with experiments showed excellent results in predicting the unstable first transverse eigenmode of a reheat combustor.
